Lou's
Machine Company on Hastings Avenue purchased the two manufacturing product
lines, originally owned by Hamilton Tool, at an auction in November of
1999.
The Portelvator and Die Part, both
registered product lines, were originally sold by Hamilton Tool in 1977 to
Machine Tool Corporation also of Hamilton. Hamilton Tool which was
eventually acquired by Stevens Graphics in 1986, subsequently moved
production to Texas.
Ray "Lou" Conrad, president of
Lou's Machine, said, "It will be a perfect fit for our current
machining capabilities and allow us to diversify our business."
Machine Tool will continue distribution of the product lines through the
established network of independent sales representatives, meaning Lou's
Machine also acquired new customers in the acquisition process.
Conrad said he has hired one worker as a
result of the purchase, and he hopes it will result in four or five more
hires in the near future.
With these product lines the business is
now considered an OEM, allowing him to receive better discounts on
materials. Most important is the fact that the production line, formerly
owned by Hamilton Tool, will still be a Hamilton, Ohio product. |
